How to Get The Perfect Client Testimonial Video

What is a Client Testimonial Video?

20131202-054039.jpg

A client testimonial video is one of the most powerful types of marketing videos you can produce, or have produced for you. I don't mean the kind on TV you see with the fine print that says “actor portrayal” – I mean genuine, honest, REAL clients of yours, singing your praises on video for the entire web to see.

Option #1 – Shoot Your Own Client Testimonial Video

So, how do you get videos of client testimonials on video? One way, is to do them yourself, one-at-a-time at your place of business with as many people as will participate. This may help with quantity – if you can get them to agree to do it, and get them to say something cohesive. It's been said that public speaking is the number one fear people have, do you know how to make them comfortable in front of the camera? Plus, if you didn't warn them it was going to happen, they're likely to be extra nervous.

Option # 2 – Hire a Professional to Record and Edit your Client Testimonial Video

Hiring a professional is much better than trying to do it yourself. A Professional videographer with experience in client testimonials is going to have several advantages:

  1. _ A professional videographer will know how to make your client comfortable._ A video professional with experience is going to know how to engage in a conversation with the client, and help them to feel like they are talking to a person, and not to a camera – and the audience beyond.
  2. A professional videographer knows what to listen for. And how to get it. A professional video producer with experience in client testimonial videos is going to know what you are looking for and need in your testimonial. There are ways to ask questions to get the kinds of answers that look and sound good on video. You want the testimonial to tell a story – to have a beginning, a middle, and an end.
  3. A professional video editor can separate the wheat from the chaff. A client testimonial video is ideally under two minutes. But how do you deal with a client who rambles on for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or even longer? Or how to do you deal with a client whose testimonial is told out of order? A professional editor with experience in client testimonial video production, like the interviewer, is going to know what kinds of information is go to best represent you, the business owner. They also know that the person who gave the testimonial wants to look good in the video. Having a professional video editor will not only help your client testimonial video make you look good, but it will help convince your clients to participate. You can reassure them that the professional production company you are hiring knows how to make them – your client – look good, too.
  4. A professional editor can make your video finished. A professional video editor isn't just going to deliver your edited video, they are going to make sure it is an extension of your brand, through inclusion of your logo, website address, phone number, etc.
  5. A professional video production company knows how to deliver your video. Today, in the internet age, its not about delivering a DVD copy of all the finished edits, a professional video production company needs to understand how you want the video delivered to your potential audience and leads. A few video productions companies are learning that the way to deliver your marketing video is through your website and your social media channels, and they should help you through this process. Most social media channels now allow “administrators” or “managers” on your company page. A professional video marketing company is going to make sure you help them deliver your videos for you. You don't want to be bothered with FTP, and uploading your video, especially if you are not technically inclined.
  6. A professional video marketing company will help you get found. A professional video marketing company will also understand SEO – Search Engine Optimization – and make sure that your video not only looks good to viewers, but that it looks good to Google, and other search engines. They will make sure your videos and your social media channels are optimized with keywords, links, descriptions, and transcripts of your client testimonial video, so that search engines can find you based on the keywords you want to be found under.

So, as you can see, there are a lot of elements that a professional video production company can bring to making your client testimonial video make you look good and drive sales and traffic for your business.

Why Do You Need Video Marketing?

Video Marketing Transcript:

Hello, I’m Stuart Mackey of Mackey Productions. So why do you need video marketing? Video marketing can provide a fresh way to reach your potential customers. Videos are the perfect way to deliver exactly what you want to say in an interesting and easy to understand way. And it  can attract new visitors to your site.

Video marketing can increase sales. A number of online studies found that purchase intent among those watching an online video spot was 76% higher than those who hadn’t. Awareness increased by 205% and there was a 62% increase in daily sales volumes. Each of these metrics relate to 30-second video ad spots shown online, but can also be translated to longer videos and demonstrate the power of engagement when online video is leveraged correctly. Video ads also fare better in message recall measurement and likeability.

There’s no denying that having a professional video created takes time, effort, planning, and a budget. But a small expense now can pay off big rewards in the long term. You can even work towards building a library of video resources for your business and become a resource for your industry.

This library of videos can be used on your website, in social media posts, any of the dozens of free video sites, sent out as part of an interactive newsletter, run at exhibitions and seminars, handed out in place of expensive print catalogues… the possibilities really are endless. The more places you upload your video, the more relevant search engines will find it, and the more likely you are to be found.

So, now that I’ve convinced you that you need to produce a marketing video, what do you do? Without a script or plan you’re only crossing your fingers and hoping for the best. So you have to create an outline; what is the goal of the video, how do you want to feature it in your business, what products are you going to highlight, possibly what you would like to see in the shots, etc. The more complete your plan is before you start, the more efficient the whole process will be.

Now, how can Mackey Productions help you create an effective marketing video? Lets look back over what we’ve learned.

Start with your script. If you have a script ready when you meet with me, it can speed of the process, and keep your cost down. If you don’t have an idea for a video,   We can discuss a plan together.

Second, what other supporting visuals will help viewers remember you and your business? You logo is important, too. But I’m talking about other visual items such as product samples. If you’re looking for ideas for visuals, you can do some research by doing an image search on google or a stock photo site for “concepts” you want to  convey. A real estate agent could show a home or house keys. A health coach could show healthy foods and exercise, An artist or designer would show examples of their work. Perhaps one of these sample video will inspire an idea for your video.

[Roll demo clips]

When you’ve compiled your script and potential support images, Mackey Productions will schedule with you and other “actors” in your video a time and a place for the shoot. Expect a full fledged on location shoot to take about half a day. A  30 second commercial in our studio can be done in less than one hour. Mackey Productions will use professional lighting, microphones and cameras to make sure your message can be seen and heard clearly.

The complexity of the video determines the length of time needed to finish it. It is possible for a very complex 30 second commercial to take more editing time than a simple talk-to-the-camera 3 minute video.

Once completed, Mackey Productions can also assist you in making sure your video is uploaded to all of the appropriate sites. Some sites, such as Facebook, allow you to assign “administrators” who can post and manage your page on your behalf (one of the MANY reasons your facebook business should be a “page” and not a “person”). But some, like youtube, can only be posted by logging in under the correct user name and password. We can help you navigate these steps.

I realize I’ve given you a lot of information and you may be saying to yourself “I don’t have the budget.” That is why I am introducing this special offer. [play 60 second commercial]

This video is an example of a 30  second video package. A video just like this can be yours for only $300. Here is the “fine print.” You must have your script written and ready to shoot. If you want your logo included, it must be provided in appropriate high quality format. You will be recorded 2-3 times delivering your “commercial” in our studio located in Brandon. Mackey Productions will edit the best parts of the takes together and choose music that fits your business and send you a few options to choose from as well as a first draft of the video. Once the music is chosen and the first draft approved, the final version will be compiled and saved to a web ready format for you to upload.

Additional options such as a animated “fly-in” logo and more complex editing are available as options.

I hope that you have found this presentation helpful and informative and I look forward to doing business together.
