Story Telling with Your Video Marketing – The Born Friends Family Portrait Skype Video

People do business with people, not businesses

People want to do business with real people. They want to know, like and trust those they do business with. It often times, especially in Small Business B2B (business to business), has kettle to do with the company name, but the relationship you have with your potential client.

Video marketing should tell a moving story

So, how to you get someone to know you and your business via video marketing? You tell your story, or the story of your business. Or better yet, the story of lives that are touched and changed by your product or service.

Skype can connect lives. And tell stories.
Skype can connect lives. And tell stories.

But this kind of story telling isn’t limited to small “mom and pop” businesses telling stories to their neighbors. It can be done – quite effectively – by international companies as well, as this Skype ad shows. I tells a moving story, with the key product tightly integrated with the family look of the software, but barely mentioned by name. Just the simply branding mark at the end.

What story do you want to tell via a video marketing campaign? Leaves your comments below.

Perhaps one of the most popular and creative way to show more information about your business is to use videos. Some examples of how to do this include:

  1. Upload a video of your company, and put on as many links as you can from all sorts of topics so as many people as possible see it.

  2. Videotape launches and other public events promoted by your business so that clients who couldn’t make these events are still able to catch up on what happened.

  3. Video how-to information related to your business, so that when someone is looking how to solve a problem your business has knowledge of, they find your video answer and learn more about you. Self-help videos on common, basic problems can be a great way to show your business’s sharing side and to garner interest from potential new customers.

Social Media Automation Using IFTTT

Screen grab of my mind map sketch for how I route my social media channels automation.

I think I have finally reduced my Mackey Productions postings to be automated, and this is a test to see if it worked, and has links to how I did it.
It is all outlined at Computer World, by Mike Elgan here: http://goo.gl/A0V0j.
First, I had already been using If This Then That ifttt.com) to automate some functions. But I came up with one route to eliminate some previous problems I had with double posts. I hadn’t really been using Google+ at all since there weren’t any aggregators that would post to it.
I am also using the built in Facebook-to-Twitter function of Facebook Pages to create my tweets, since I post to Facebook more often than I do to twitter. I may end up reversing this behavior because 1) News360 which I use for my news feeds will post to Twitter and Facebook but not my Facebook page; and 2) The built in iOS 6 apps can link to more than one Twitter, allowing me to post to twitter from almost any app on my iPhone.
